Simply the best pizza
We don’t go to restaurants very often, since we really enjoy cooking at home. But when a special occasion comes up or we simply want to take a break from cooking, we usually choose from a few of our favorite spots in Izola. One of them is definitely Casa della Pizza.
The pizzeria is in a great location: just a stone’s throw from the historic center, right next to the bus station. The building itself is old-town style and exudes that authentic Izola charm, while its spacious terrace is beautifully landscaped and glass-enclosed. Even from the outside, it looks so inviting that it practically draws you right in.
There’s always a lively atmosphere here. Friendly waitstaff are always there to greet you at the entrance and show you to your table. But be warned: this spot is extremely popular. During peak season (June through October), it can get quite crowded, so I highly recommend calling ahead to reserve a table.
The menu is printed right on the paper placemats. We usually start by ordering a glass of a refreshing drink and then take our time choosing. By the way, they have a good selection of draft beer: my favorite is the unfiltered one, but the red one is also very tasty.
Every time, I study the entire menu in detail—judging by the descriptions, everything sounds so delicious that it’s hard to decide. We’ve tried many different pizzas, and we’ve been completely thrilled every single time. But our family’s all-time favorite remains the pizza with a stuffed crust, filled with delicate truffle cheese (Pizza with Stuffed Crust). It’s incredibly juicy and aromatic, and they even grate fresh truffles over it at the end. My husband and I split it, since the portion is really generous. Our son, however, stays true to the classics and always chooses the Margherita, with a side of salami. The dough is truly top-notch—light, fluffy, and with a crispy crust that immediately reveals the authentic Italian baking tradition.
It’s just a shame they don’t offer their own home delivery service, but you can always order takeout, walk over to the restaurant, and pick it up yourself. If you’re looking for a cozy atmosphere with excellent pizza—this is the place to go!
