The Area
We live here, so we know for sure: the best thing about our location is that almost everything in Izola is within walking distance.
The Sea and Beaches
The coast is a two-minute walk from our doorstep. Another 5–7 minutes toward Piran and you’ll be at the beach Delfinček. In the same direction, 20 minutes away Pod Belvederjem, is a rocky beach that’s less crowded. Svetilnik is about a 7-minute walk along the seaside promenade, with a restaurant right on the water.
Restaurants and Cafes
Our neighborhood has several cafes and restaurants frequented by locals, not just tourists. Seafood restaurants—places with good local food and summer terraces—are literally just around the corner.
For coffee with a view of the harbor, try any of the many cafes along the Kanale promenade.
Shops and Services
The nearest Mercator supermarket is a 5-minute walk away. A pharmacy, post office, and ATMs are within a 7–10-minute radius. The bus stop is right at the city gates, less than a 3-minute walk away.

How to get there
🚗 By car
Izola is located on the Slovenian Adriatic coast, between Koper and Piran. It’s easy to get there from anywhere in the country via the A1/E61 highway.
From Ljubljana: Take the A1 toward Koper, exit at Izola—about 1 hour 20 minutes (115 km). From Trieste (Italy): Take the E61 highway via Koper—about 45 minutes (55 km).
From Zagreb: Take the A3, then the A2 via Ljubljana—about 3 hours.
From Vienna: Via Graz and Ljubljana—about 5 hours.
From Budapest: via Ljubljana – approximately 5–5.5 hours.

⚠️ Postojnska is a street with restricted traffic in the old town center. You cannot park here. Upon arrival, drop off your luggage at our entrance and then park at one of the parking lots (see below).
🅿️ Parking
You can park your car at several nearby parking lots. We’ve described each one in detail on separate pages, including prices, hours of operation, and our recommendations:
- Lonka - the closest to us, about a 4-minute walk. Paid parking, open 24 hours, but no 24-hour rate.
- Argo - a little farther away, but there are usually open spots even in the summer.
- Tomažičeva ulica - open, inexpensive, suitable for long-term parking.

🚌 By Bus
Bus service in the region is provided by Arriva (arriva.si). The Izola bus station, the city’s main bus station, is a 3-minute walk from us.
From Koper: Bus No. 51 (Koper–Izola–Piran) departs every 20–30 minutes. The trip takes about 20 minutes, and the fare is approximately €2.
From Piran / Portorož: the same line No. 51 in the opposite direction. From Piran, approximately 30 minutes, ~2 €.
From Ljubljana: Direct Nomago or Arriva buses to Koper (departures several times a day, travel time ~2 hours, fare ~10–12 €). In Koper, transfer to bus No. 51 to Izola.
It’s best to check the schedule on the arriva.si website or in the Google Maps app—it’s updated in real time.
💡 Tip: During the summer (July–August), buses on the Koper–Piran route run much more frequently—during peak hours, the intervals are shortened to 10–15 minutes.

The easiest way to travel from Trieste Airport to Izola is by taxi or rental car. From Ljubljana, take a bus to Koper, then transfer to bus no. 51.
